The 2015 St. Joseph Festival planning has begun!

Planning for the 37th annual St. Joseph Festival in the 175th year of our parish has officially begun! Please mark your calendars and join us July 17th, 18th and 19th for some family fun. Festival Co-chairs Mike Flaherty and Doug Babcock, along with many dedicated committee chairs have begun the process of planning and executing another exciting and fun-filled festival.

You can count on many of the festival event favorites you’ve experienced in the past along with new entertainment to keep the festival fresh. The Knights of Columbus will be grilling their world famous chicken and the Country Bakeshop will provide confections that are sure to please. The Classic Car show is a personal favorite and always brings in vehicles I had not seen in previous years.

Few of you may know that the St. Joseph Flea Market is actually celebrating is 39th year, preceding the Festival in its inception. The Flea Market has accepted many quality donations in the past and requires many helpers to sort and price each item. The Flea Market committee will begin accepting donations June 28th – July 6th from 10 AM to 5 PM. The Flea Market will be open for business July 9th, 10th and 11th.

We are always looking for more volunteers to help with the planning and executing this annual community event. Whether you are new to St. Joseph or a longtime parishioner, this is a great way to meet fellow parishioners and be part of the excitement in delivering a fun event to our friends and neighbors.

There are a few committee chair and co-chair openings available. Please contact Doug Babcock at or Mike Flaherty at for more information. To volunteer to help with the festival please contact Laura McKenzie at .

The Festival Committee is committed to bringing an exciting weekend of events to the Dexter area community!  We've been hard at work since January, and are pleased to introduce you to our 2014 Festival!

Our kickoff concert, to be held on Friday, July 18, at 7pm in the country church at the corner of Mast & North Territorial Roads (6805 Mast Rd., Dexter) will feature Jill Jack and her band.

Ferndale native Jill Jack developed her reputation as a headliner at venues & festivals – Ann Arbor Folk Festival, Blissfest Music Festival, The Living Room in NYC just to mention a few as well as consistent sell-outs at the Ark.  Regional touring has branched to successful tours of England and the American Southeast. Since 1997 she’s won 35 Detroit Music Awards in every conceivable category that applies to a singer-songwriter. Much of this provincial success is due to her charming stage presence and emotive songwriting.  So, mark your calendars and invite your family and friends.

Some quotes highlighting her talent:
"Life is a battle field and the Michigan girl seems to have won the battle.  Jill Jack & band has shown us all aspects of Americana … (Moon and the Morning After) is top-class" -- Rootstime (Belgium)
"Jill Jack has all the makings of a major talent. She's got the stage presence, the voice, the ability to interpret songs passionately ... there's a lot of soul in what she does" -- Billboard Magazine
"Her voice can soar like opera and smoke like the blues ... one of the strongest voices in Detroit, or in the country for that matter." -- The Detroit Free Press
